Tennis Necklace & Tennis Bracelet: All-New Simulated Diamond Jewelry

With our new 2024-2025 catalog, Style Dots has introduced even more simulated diamond jewelry to our exclusive Diamondette Collection!

Now featuring gold-finish jewelry, the Diamonette simulated diamond collection now includes the super trendy Tennis Necklace, as well as the ever-popular Tennis Bracelet.

What Is Tennis Jewelry?

Tennis jewelry, including the tennis bracelet and tennis necklace, are formed of a single line of diamonds, or other gemstones, all identical in color, size, cut, and clarity. Each stone is held together by a metal, which could be gold, silver, or platinum.

The most popular form of tennis jewelry is the tennis bracelet; however, the tennis necklace has recently burst onto the scene and is becoming increasingly popular.

The Tennis Bracelet

Tennis bracelets first became popular in 1978 when Chris Evert, a professional tennis player, started to wear a diamond bracelet to her matches. This diamond bracelet was delicate and just loose-fitting enough that it gave her enough flexibility to wear it while she rigorously played tennis (“How the Tennis Bracelet Got Its Name”).

However, when this bracelet fell off during the middle of the 1978 US Open, people really began to take notice of this glamorous, yet sporty accessory: “Chrissie recalls that she was wearing a diamond-and-gold bracelet, and it broke and fell onto the court in an early round of the Open,” Tami Starr, Chris Evert’s publicist, told The Adventurine. “They had to stop play while she looked for it.”

After that, jewelers began to refer to eternity bracelets as tennis bracelets, and the phrase became a permanent part of our collective lexicon (“How the Tennis Bracelet Got Its Name”).

“No one wore diamonds with sports ensembles before the tennis bracelet,” a Tiffany & Company spokesperson told the New York Times in 1987. But people grabbed onto that idea of dressing up their day-to-day outfits with diamonds; and today, the tennis bracelet is a dainty accessory staple.

Style Dots’ tennis bracelets—in both silver and gold finishes—feature the equivalent of 3.80 carats of D-rated, flawless simulated diamonds.

The Tennis Necklace

Last year was “Barbiecore,” and this year is “tenniscore”!

According to British jewelry brand, The Diamond Store, tennis necklaces have seen a huge surge in popularity over the last 18 months (“The Tennis Necklace”).

Why the sudden surge? There could be several reasons including the debut of Zendaya’s tennis-themed film, Challengers. According to Vogue UK, tennis bracelets and necklaces have seen a spike in searches since Challengers came out (“The Best Tennis Bracelets”).

But the biggest reason is likely the appeal of simulated diamonds, which makes the tennis necklace (and bracelet) both more affordable and ethical (“The Tennis Necklace”).

Whatever the reason, you’re likely to see the tennis necklace gracing the necks of everyone from Zendaya to Florence Pugh, Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Bosworth, Taraji P. Henson, Karli Kloss, and more!
